SECRETARY'S JOURNEY
BAIKUNTHAPUR TARUN SANGHAFrom Passion to Impact: A Secretary’s Journey to Elevate Change
Susanta Giri was an exceptional student academically and moved to Kolkata for advanced studies. During his time there, he frequently visited various places in the city and was deeply moved by the selfless service of Mother Teresa towards the underprivileged. This first-hand experience with her noble work greatly inspired him.
Moreover, Susanta immersed himself in the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. These readings ignited a passion within him, emphasizing the importance of aiding those in need and bolstering his belief in human-centric worship. He was also deeply influenced by Rabindranath Tagore’s model of Rural Reconstruction. This model showcased a vision for rural development that resonated with Susanta’s own beliefs.
Tragically, the sudden passing of his mother brought him back to his hometown. Upon his return, he was confronted with the harsh realities faced by the rural population. Many suffered due to inadequate healthcare, faced uncertainties regarding their next meal, and harbored dreams of education that seemed far out of reach.
Instead of returning to the city, Susanta chose to stay and devote himself to the betterment of his community. Over time, he spearheaded and implemented various welfare initiatives in education, healthcare, livelihood, and environmental conservation. These programs not only provided much-needed assistance but also reduced the need for locals to migrate to metropolitan areas in search of work.By mobilizing the community, Susanta was able to amplify their collective voice, urging the local administration to prioritize the welfare of its often-overlooked residents. Through his efforts, he brought about a transformation that emphasized the importance of community well-being and inclusivity.
