Mother and Child Care

BTS has been at the forefront of advocating for safe motherhood and child health care in the remote island regions of the Sundarbans, areas that unfortunately lack dedicated health institutions, especially for antenatal and postnatal care. Recognizing this crucial gap, BTS has proactively cultivated a team of trained community health workers (CHWs), supervisors, and other essential staff to cater to the health needs of these marginalized communities. These CHWs undertake regular visits to homes in the region, diligently identifying pregnant women, particularly those at high risk. They not only offer primary antenatal care but also emphasize the importance of seeking specialized care from doctors in healthcare institutions. Through these efforts, BTS aims to ensure that even in the remotest parts of the Sundarbans, mothers and children have access to quality health care.
