JOURNEY SO FAR

BAIKUNTHAPUR TARUN SANGHA
In 1978, inspired by similar initiatives across the state, a group of enthusiastic youths founded a club dedicated to leisure and camaraderie. However, their purpose took a profound shift in 1982 when Kultali island was ravaged by severe floods. Faced with the pressing needs of their community, these young members proactively launched relief efforts. They assisted victims to safety, liaised with government authorities for aid, and managed relief camps. This crisis served as an eye-opener. They witnessed the harsh realities in the island areas with the sad premature demise of mothers and children due to malnutrition and anaemic conditions, highlighting the urgent need for improved healthcare and nutritional support in these isolated communities.
Recognizing their potential to bring about positive change, they resolved to transition from casual club activities to dedicated community services. This marked the birth of Baikunthapur Tarun Sangha, commonly abbreviated as BTS. The organization soon acquired official recognition, registering under the West Bengal Society Registration Act, 1961. Subsequently, it secured certification under 12A & 80G(Exemption) of Income Tax Act, 1961, the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 1976, under the aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.

Numerous distinguished individuals and organizations have visited our working communities to contribute to their improvement and have helped shape a better world.
