ABOUT US

BAIKUNTHAPUR TARUN SANGHA

Baikunthapur Tarun Sangha (BTS) is a community based organization dedicated to fostering sustainable development in the country’s remote villages and environmentally critical Sunderban region, recognized by UNESCO as both a Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site.

The organization is strategically located in a remote village of Baikunthapur in the Sunderban Delta, close to the Bay of Bengal and far from the metropolitan city of Kolkata. This unique location offers both challenges and opportunities, with the region’s pristine environment on one hand, and its hard-to-reach nature on the other.

The organization’s dedication to the Sunderban community is evident in its expansive outreach. Serving the areas adjacent to the Tiger Reserve Forest, BTS is actively involved in offering development services tailored for the region’s most marginalized and disadvantaged communities. This includes the vulnerable forest dwellers and fishing , migrating communities, with a special focus on the well-being and empowerment of women and children.

In essence, BTS is not just an organization; it is a beacon of hope, reaching out with care, concern, and unwavering support to the most vulnerable, in one of the world’s most distinct and treasured landscapes.

Our Programme expansion in North Bengal

We are thrilled to announce the expansion of Baikunthapur Tarun Sangha’s Remedial Education Program into North Bengal. Building on our success in empowering Adivasi children in tea garden communities, particularly in the Majher Dabri Tea Estate, Alipurduar, we are extending our reach to serve even more children in need.

Our program’s expansion into North Bengal reflects our commitment to providing comprehensive educational support to underserved communities across the region. By focusing on tailored curriculum, engaging activities, and experienced educators, we aim to bridge educational gaps and empower children with essential skills for academic success.

As we embark on this new journey, our future goals include extending the program to reach more tea garden children, developing sustainable strategies for long-term impact, and forging partnerships with local stakeholders and organizations to enhance program effectiveness and reach.

Through the Remedial Education Program, we are not only teaching subjects but also empowering Adivasi children with the tools they need to build brighter futures. Together, we can break the cycle of poverty and transform lives in North Bengal’s tea garden communities.
